Take a Word - Clockwork

I created this card for this week's challenge at Take a Word which is CLOCKWORK. The face is a stamp from Lost Coast Designs that I stamped with Stazon ink. Then I coloured the card with Fresco Finish paint. The swirls around her face, her legs and shoes are coloured with Stream Adirondack ink. The clock is stamped on a piece of felt.

The text in the background is a Paperartsy stamp: Time is a dressmaker specialising in alterations. I stamped it with Hey Pesto, one of the new translucent Fresco Finish paints. When it dried, a shadow effect appeared around the text, which I like very much!

Three Muses - Black and White

This week the Three Muses challenged us to create something in BLACK AND WHITE WITH A DASH OF ... a colour of our choice.

This ATC is my creation. The background is stamped with Stazon Jet Black on a glossy card. The dots and the branches are stamps from Stampers Anonymous. The car is from PaperArtsy.

Take a Word - Tattered

This week's challenge at Take a Word is TATTERED. I cheated a little, the only thing tattered in this ATC is the colour that I used for the face and the label: Tattered Rose.

For this ATC I tried to use distress inks on a glossy card. It works really well, and gives a nice colour.

Take a Word - Wings

This week's theme at Take a Word is WINGS. Searching my stash for anything with wings, I found a piece of BasicGrey paper with a bird. I used it as the background. The globe in the background is a stamp from Stampers Anonymous.

The lady is a chess piece stamp from Lost Coast Designs with additional dragon wings. The word "Wings" is made from metal and coloured with Paperartsy Fresco Finish paints. These paints gave a matte finish, so I sanded it a little to let the metal shine through.

1927 Bicyclist

I joined an online workshop, called Composition for Collage, presented by Claudine Hellmuth. In four weeks she will show us some techniques for creating better compositions. This card I make as our homework for the first week.

The 1920s bicycles ad is from the course downloads. The man on the old bicycle is a stamp. All other elements are from a vintage dessin paper stack.

This card also fits for the MEMORIES challenge of Take a Word.

I used Adirondack dye inks to colour the card.

Three Muses - Birds

This week's theme at the Three Muses is BIRDS OF a FEATHER. Inspired by an example in the August issue of Craft Stamper magazine, I made these three tags. The birds on the left and right tags are made from die cuts, the bird cage is a PaperArtsy stamp on metal, the woman's face is also from PaperArtsy.

Weather or not?

Until now, the summer in the Netherlands is not as good as we hoped for. Last year it rained a lot, and this year is not much better. A few days with high temperatures are often followed by heavy showers. Let´s hope the weather improves soon!

I made this card for this week´s Three Muses Challenge, which is called WEATHER OR NOT.

Take a word - Music

This week's theme at Take a Word is MUSIC. Not a difficult theme, but I could not decide what the main element would be for this card. Searching through my stash of embellishments, I found a lot of things that I have not used for a long time...
In the end, I chose a Memory Glass (Ideaology) and an image from Crafty Individuals. I painted the Memory Glass with alcohol inks, and wrapped it with Foil Tape (Ideaology).
The background is coloured with Fresco Finish Paints (PaperArtsy). The music score is a mask from Ideaology.

Take a Word - Insects

This week's theme at Take a Word is INSECTS. This is of my favourite themes!

The butterfly is stamped on a piece of fabric and coloured with Fresco Finish Paints. We learned this technique during the ArtsyCrafts event (see previous post). The card itself is very simple. A piece of design paper, some distress inks, and some PaperAtrsy stamps.

ArtsyCrafts

My wife Ineke is also a crafter, and we like to attend workshops together. Usually I am the only man in a workshop. People always say how they love the fact that we are a crafting couple.

From 8-10 June, Ineke and I attended the ArtsyCrafts event in England, that was hosted by Leandra from PaperArtsy and Linda (aka Yours Artfully). This was a wonderful three day event, during which we made three projects.

The first project was to make a Fabric Book, using textile, stamps and paints. We had to stitch and sew it all together with a sewing machine. This was very new to me, but much fun to do. Below are the pages I made. These pages and the pages that Ineke made will be sewn together into a wall hanging.

On Saturday, we hinged 2 wooden frames together to make a sort of book filled with sewing notions. Not so much sewing on this, painting and other ideas went into this one. The front:

And inside:

Sunday was my favourite project, called 'Rusty Relic'. Again using a wooden frame, and lots of clay, metal mesh, paints, and rusting powder, the result was fabulous!

As the first two projects involved Sewing in one way or another, it also fits this week's challenge of Take a Word.

Take a Word - Dreams

This week's theme at Take a Word is DREAM. This card may picture some of Leonardo da Vinci's dreams, on the background of his well-known Vitruvian Man. To make him a little decent , I added some Foliage from Tim Holtz that I coloured with distress powders.

Het thema van deze week bij Take a Word is DREAM. Deze kaart toont een paar dromen die Leonardo da Vinci misschien wel gehad heeft. De achtergrond is zijn beroemde tekening van de man van Vitruvius, die ik iets fatsoenlijker gemaakt heb door wat Foliage van Tim Holtz toe te voegen .

Take a word - gentlemen

This week's theme at Take a Word is GENTLEMEN. Marie (Ozstuff) invited me to host the challenge this week. It was great fun to do!
I created a tag using stamps from Paperartsy and distress inks. By masking each image, I gave each image a different colour. To finish the tag I added some embellishments from Tim Holtz. For the swivel clasp I stamped a number on a piece of scrap paper, and glued the swivel clasp to it with Sepia accents from Time Holtz.

Take a Word - Time

This week's theme at Take a Word is TIME. Time to get out the Dali stamp sheet (Cherry Pie) with some unusual clocks. Time to get out the Tim Holtz book for the blended batik technique. The result is this card. All the colouring is done with distress inks. The sentiment and the background words are from Paperartsy.

Take a Word - Egg

With Easter around the corner, this week's theme at Take a Word is EGGS. Easter eggs with chickens or easter bunnies are a bit too cute for me. However, when this figure pops out of the egg, it is going to be a happy Easter!

Pasen komt er weer aan en het thema van deze week bij Take a Word past er erg mooi bij: EGGS. Een paasei met een kuikentje of een haasje is een beetje te zoet voor mij. Maar als deze persoon uit het ei komt wordt het zeker een vrolijk pasen!

Take a Word - Hats

This week's theme at Take a Word is HATS. A great opportunity to use my favourite stamp again: the gentlemen from Paperartsy.

Het thema van deze week bij Take a Word is HOEDEN. Voor deze kaart heb ik mijn favoriete stempel gebruikt, de gentlemen van Paperartsy.

Take a Word - Green

This week's theme at Take a Word is GREEN. The first thing that came to my mind is nature, so I decided to make a card with a lot of leaves. Searching through the stack of old scrapbook paper, I found a sheet with grass. This was perfect for the background. I cut two leaves from other scrapbook papers. With grungeboard letters I formed the word Nature. The letters are coloured with Fresco Finish paints.

Het thema van deze week bij Take a Word is GREEN. Het eerste waaraan ik dacht was natuur, het moest een kaart worden met veel bladeren. Toen ik de stapel scrapbook vellen doorzocht vond ik een oud vel met gras, perfect voor de achtergrond. Uit twee andere vellen heb ik bladeren geknipt. Met grungeboard letters heb ik het woord Nature gevormd. De letters heb ik geverfd met Fresco Finish Paints.

Take a Word - Masculine

This week's theme at Take a Word is MASCULINE. All the cards I made this year have a mssculine element, so this challenge was not too difficult for me. This canvas is my entry. I did not manage to take a picture of the canvas that shows all details, so I added two detail, somewhat over-exposed, pictures of the metal pieces.

Het thema van deze week bij Take a Word is MASCULINE. Op alle kaarten die ik dit jaar gemaakt heb, staat minimaal een (1) man. Deze challenge was daarom niet al te moeilijk voor mij. Deze canvas is mijn bijdrage. Het lukte me niet om een foto te maken waarop alle details goed te zien zijn, daarom heb ik twee (overbelichte) detail foto's bijgevoegd.
